Recent Study Reveals Coronavirus Can Damage Brain
CORONAVIRUS – The preliminary study of patients with severe COVID-19 revealed the virus could can damage your brain.
Moreover, the results of the brain damage could result to complications such as stroke, inflammation, psychosis, and dementia-like symptoms. However, larger studies are still required to be certain about the condition.
Previously, the coronavirus was only known to target the lungs of a person. But, recent studies revealed that the virus could be found in other parts of the body as well.

Meanwhile, the study of neurological damage caused by the new coronavirus was a joint effort from the top universities in London. The study was led by Sara Pett, a professor from University College and Benedict Michael from Liverpool University.
They published their study in the Lancet Psychiatry Journal and reported that 77 of 125 patients who had brain complications saw experienced a stroke. Furthermore, most of the patients in the study were over their 60s.
Additionally, the most common brain complications were due to a blood clot in the brain, known as ischemic stroke. Along with this, the study also found that 39 of 125 patients indicated signs of confusion or an altered mental state.
As per the report, nine of the 39 who had an altered mental state had unspecified brain dysfunctions. Meanwhile, seven had inflammation of the brain.
