PNP Reports New Cases Of Coronavirus Infected Officers, Deaths

PNP INFECTED WITH CORONAVIRUS – The Philippine National Police has reported new cases of COVID-19 infections from within their ranks.

Being frontliners themselves, the police are frequently at risk of contracting the deadly new coronavirus. According to a report from Bombo Radyo Iloilo, the number of infected PNP officers have reached 507. Meanwhile, the number of coronavirus related deaths involving the PNP rose to nine.

Of this number, 287 of the officers have recovered. As per the report, PNP Chief Police General Archie Francisco Gamboa said that most of the cases of COVID-19 infections came from Central Visayas. The Philippines’ police force also documented 661 probable coronavirus cases and 875 more suspected patients.

Currently, Cebu, one of the major islands in Central Visayas is on its way to becoming the new coronavirus hotspot in the Philippines. However, officials from Cebu attribute the rise in the number of cases to their aggressive testing. Cebu’s jail system had also reported several cases of COVID-19 within its walls.

Meanwhile, the Philippines has reported 30,682 cases of COVID-19 with 1,177 deaths. Of that number, 8,143 patients have recovered from the deadly disease.

Every day, more and more government bodies of the government reported coronavirus cases from within their workforce. Previously, the Department of Justice also recorded a rising number of cases. Along with this, maintenance workers of the MRT-3 also tested positive for the disease.
