Piston 6 Drivers Positive For COVID-19, Where Did They Catch It?

Two Of The Piston 6 Drivers Found Positive For COVID-19

PISTON 6 DRIVERS POSITIVE – Amid the coronavirus quarantine, 6 jeepney drivers took to the streets to voice out their concerns as their main source of income was taken away.

The drivers called for the re-opening of jeepneys as the hundreds of drivers struggled to feed their families. However, instead of listening to their call, they were arrested and sent to jail at the Caloocan Custodial facility for their alleged breach of quarantine protocol.

Sadly, according to a report from Philippine Star, the drivers were reported to be positive for the new coronavirus, COVID-19. The news was reported by Caloocan Rep. Edgar Erice. But, Caloocan police chief Col. Dario Menor said the positive patients could not have gotten the virus from their cramped detention cells.

Eriche said they would not disclose the names of the two jeepney drivers who tested positive for COVID-19. Although he did confirm that Tatay Elmer Cordero, the eldest driver (72 years old) was not one of the members who tested positive.

Still, even with the police chief’s reassurance, netizens still argue that there was a high possibility that the drivers caught the virus from the cramped prison cells.

Recently, there has been an influx of positive cases within the Philippine jail system. Inmates and police officers alike have tested positive for the coronavirus.
