“If We Stop Testing Right Now” – Trump Makes Statement On COVID-19

DONALD TRUMP – The President of the United States (POTUS) Donald Trump made another remarkable statement: “If we stop testing right now, we’d have very few cases, if any,”.

Obviously, a country would have few documented cases of COVID-19 if it stopped conducting tests to detect it. However, that won’t stop the virus from actually spreading.

According to an article from The Hill, POTUS made his statement during a White House event which highlighted his actions to help senior citizens amid the epidemic.

But, this wouldn’t be the first time that the POTUS made inconsistent and misinformed comments regarding testing. Previously, trump downplayed the severity of the virus and attributed its high number of cases to have more tests done than any country.

As per the article, Trump also complained about the high positive rates are too high due to the US testing so many people. Moreover, he even stated that the tests made the US look bad.

Our testing is so much bigger and more advanced than any other country (we have done a great job on this!) that it shows more cases. Without testing, or weak testing, we would be showing almost no cases. Testing is a double edged sword – Makes us look bad, but good to have!!!

But, despite the high number of cases, Trump had shown no interest in a new set of lockdowns to attempt to flatten the virus’s curve. This was due to the economic damage already sustained from the virus.

However, even with health experts warning about another explosion of cases, Vice President Pence said the US was making “Steady Progress” in defeating the virus.
