Trump Trashes Ties With WHO Over Lack Of Action At Start Of Pandemic

TRUMP TRASHES TIES WITH WHO – US President Donald Trump said he was severing ties with the World Health Organization for their alleged lack of action in the early stages of the pandemic.

In a previous report, Trump has expressed his dismay over the initiatives done by WHO. He stated that because of their lack of actions, countries from across the world had suffered severely due to COVID-19.

Trump claimed that WHO deliberately failed to give critical information during the early stages of the pandemic. Additionally, Taiwan shares similar thoughts regarding WHO.

They claimed that WHO ignored warnings from several Taiwanese doctors stationed in China regarding a MERS-like disease. Since early December, these doctors already documented human-to-human transmissions, but they were ignored by WHO.

Meanwhile, Trump has repeatedly said that WHO was a puppet for China. According to an article from Philstar, the POTUS said:

Because they have failed to make the requested and greatly needed reforms, we will be today terminating our relationship with the World Health Organization

Furthermore, he emphasized that the world deserved transparency from China regarding the virus. Since the start of the epidemic in China, WHO had been criticized by officials from several countries for praising China’s response to the coronavirus epidemic.

According to Trump, WHO failed to make the requested and “greatly needed” reforms within the organization. As such, Trump said he was forced to terminate their relation with WHO.

Following this, Trump said that the budget supposedly allocated for the WHO would now go to other “more deserving” efforts amid the global health crisis.

WHO had been criticized for downplaying the coronavirus along with China. However, Beijing had previously denied the allegations from the US and even presented a counter-argument. Beijing stated that the US was the origin of the virus and not China.
