DLSU Sacks Faculty Member Over Controversial Post Targetting Risa Hotiveros
De La Salle University (DLSU) sacks the faculty member who recently posted an ‘offensive’ post on Facebook targeting Senator Risa Hontiveros.
In a Facebook post written by a faculty member from the Ramon V. del Rosario College of Business (RVRCOB) last night, June 14, hinting that the female senator should be molested by inmates of the New Bilibid Prison.
“I recommend she (Hontiveros) teach the prisoners in [New] Bilibid Prison not to r*pe. The closed-door session” said the faculty member on the said post. However, the post has now been deleted.
The post came after the reactions of Senator Hotiveros denouncing the victim-blaming Facebook post of the Lucban Municipal Police Station recently. Hontiveros condemned the statement of the PNP page where women should refrain from wearing skimpy clothes to avoid harassment.

The post of the faculty member, who allegedly teaches at RVRCOB, drew flak from the DLSU community forum, based on the report of the Lasallian newspaper. DLSU community made a petition for the takedown of the post and the apprehension of the faculty member.
RVRCOP President Nates Driz said that he was “disgusted and disturbed” by the post, especially because it cam from a faculty member – “someone whose job to educated Lasallians.”
“As the college president of (RVRCOB), I have the goal (of fighting) for the best interest of the students, and these comments perpetuate the culture of r*pe,” Driz told the university publication. “There is no room for misogyny in DLSU.”
As per the report, Driz has reached out to the Marketing and Advertising Department, who had informed the RVRCOB president that they will not renew the faculty member’s contract for the next term.
“They are doing everything in their power to ensure that the (faculty member) who released the statement will be (held) accountable),” Driz told the LaSallian.
