On Monday (June 15, 2020), former Rappler researcher-writer Reynaldo Santos Jr. together with Maria Ressa is convicted for cyber libel charges filed by businessman Wilfredo Keng. However, Manila Regional Trial Court (RTC) Branch 46 declared that Rappler has no liability.
Ressa and Santos have been sentenced to face six months and one day to up to six years imprisonment. The two have been ordered to pay P200,000 in moral damages and another P200,000 in exemplary damages.
