Police Arrest Maria Ressa of Rappler Upon Arrival at NAIA

Rappler’s Maria Ressa faced arrest by the authorities upon her arrival at Ninoy Aquino International Airport (NAIA).

Another arrest warrant against Maria Ressa was recently issued by the Court. The arrest was ordered by Pasig Court over anti-dummy charges against the journalist.

Recently, the police authorities arrested Maria Arrested upon her arrival at the Ninoy Aquino International Airport (NAIA). Based on the social media post on Rappler’s Facebook page, she was with her lawyer.

Ressa expressed that she would immediately post bail. Based on a report, the journalist would have to pay Php 90,000.00 as bail over the anti-dummy law charges against her.

It is the second time of Maria Ressa to be arrested this year. The Rappler CEO was also arrested last month, February, over cyber libel charges against her.

The accusations were over a 2012 article about a businessman being linked to former Department of Justice (DOJ) Chief Renato Corona. She was arrested night time and had to spend the night at the National Bureau of Investigation (NBI).

Ressa was released after posting a bail of Php 100,000.00 at the Manila Regional Trial Court Branch 46. Aside from the cyber libel and anti-dummy law charges, she is also facing five(5) tax evasion charges.

As of this writing, there are still no further updates over the arrest of Rappler CEO Maria Ressa. We’ll keep you posted.
