With the effects of pandemic, Dingdong Dantes bothered over unemployment in their industry.
DINGDONG DANTES – Kapuso actor Dingdong Dantes speaks about situation of their industry being the worst hit in this time of pandemic.
On a normal taping day, around 150 to 200 people are present in a set and with the new set protocols after temporary suspension of production shooting, only 50 to 70 people only are allowed. And this is what Kapuso actor Dingdong Dantes is worried about.
With the decrease number of heads working in a set means increased unemployment in their industry. In a forum joined by others such as Matteo Guidicelli, Drew Arellano, Nico Bolzico, and Rico Blanco, they talked about the challenges brought about by the pandemic in the entertainment industry.
The sudden suspension has caused so much to workers of their industry regardless of someone’s stature. This is because even celebrities like him lost their job. Dingdong said, “Yung industriya namin is really one of the baddest or worst hit na industriya.”
And for him, the greatest challenge is finding alternative jobs to the people. However, he found hope in alternative platforms such as Netflix and Iflix and in finding similar platforms as such. This is still to deliver entertainment to people.
He even raised a question that if a person, with the risk and threats of getting an infection, will still bravely go out to watch a film in cinema theater. Of course not, it will all boil down to safety. He added according to PEP, “So, in the age and this time where everyone is adapting and adjusting, I’m sure because it’s the creative industry, they will find creative solutions.”
