Five San Juan City Cops Relieved For Ignoring Baguio Health Protocols

FIVE SAN JUAN CITY COPS – Five police officers from San Juan City were relieved from their duty for allegedly ignoring safety protocols in Baguio City.

According to GMA News, National Capital Region Police Office (NCRPO) Police chief Debold Sinas said on Monday that he ordered the transfer of the five to the NCRPO’s Regional Personnel Holding and Accounting Unit while investigation regarding the incident is pending.

All five cops were part of San Juan City Mayor Francis Zamora’s convoy.

“I will not condone any wrongdoing of our police officers in the implementation of the community quarantine protocols, if held responsible,”

“We, as law enforcers, are bound to respect the existing rules and regulations anywhere in the Philippines. The safety of the people remains as our top priority in this trying times.”

Sinas, who is also facing charges for the alleged breach in health protocols because of his birthday party, said that the Regional Internal Affairs Service and the RIAS in Police Regional Office — Cordillera already began probing the incident.

The five policemen were ordered to submit their explanation regarding the allegations.

Baguio City Mayor Benjamin Magalong earlier said that the entourage of the San Juan mayor violated health protocols after ignoring a checkpoint in the area. They specifically violated the regulatory mechanism of quarantine check and triage examination at the Naguilian facility.

Furthermore, they also failed to present a present a medical health clearance when asked at the Baguio Country Club.

As per the report, Zamora already apologized for the incident, further saying that he was asleep when it happened.
