3 Malabon Warehouses On Fire For Over 5 Hours

MALABON WAREHOUSES – Three (3) warehouses caught fire just a week after it resumed its operation.

The COVID-19 pandemic has affected the operation of almost all businesses in the Philippines. To some businesses, only slight changes called for adaptation while other businesses really have to temporarily stop their operation.

Previously, the entire Luzon and most areas in Visayas and Mindanao were under the Enhanced Community Quarantine (ECQ). Everyone is advised to stay at home.

Under the ECQ, several non-essential businesses temporarily stopped their operation so their employees can stay at home. Classes and other social gatherings were also suspended and prohibited.

Among the areas in PH that remained under the ECQ for several weeks until recently is Metro Manila. It was just starting June 1 when Metro Manila was placed under a General Community Quarantine (GCQ).

Under the GCQ, some businesses may be allowed to operate but on a reduced workforce. Also, the health standards and protocols must be observed for the safety of everyone.

However, some unfortunate things happened in Malabon City. Based on a report on ABS-CBN News, three (3) Malabon warehouses caught fire shortly after it resumed its operation.

It is exactly a week since the said Malabon warehouses started operating again following the quarantine measures. According to the report, at 1:00 in the morning today, the fire started in a warehouse of surplus items.

The said fire spread to another warehouse filled with soap and then to another warehouse of Japan surplus items. According to Ding Pangilinan, the owner of the 3rd warehouse caught by fire, around P100-million worth of items were damaged in his warehouse.

The Bureau of Fire Protection (BFP) estimated the structural damage to reach Php 15-million according to the report. The damage on two (2) other warehouses were not estimated yet.

The fire started at 1:00 o’clock in the morning prompting the neighborhood to evacuate. The BFP was still putting off the fire at 7:00 in the morning. Fortunately, no one got hurt.

An investigation about the incident is ongoing now. More updates may be posted soon.
