However, the compensation to be given to the families of the deceased workers got delayed and DOH Secretary Francisco Duque III, based on a previous article, got lambasted by musician Paolo Guico of Ben&Ben for blaming his failure to his men regarding the delayed cash assistance.

And now, according to a report from ABS-CBN, 29 out of 32 families of the frontline workers have finally received their Php 1-million compensation each. Health Undersecretary Maria Rosario Vergeire said this during the Laging Handa public briefing on Saturday, June 6. The checks of the remaining three (3) families will also be released today.

While fighting versus the pandemic, 26 doctors, 4 nurses and 2 non-medical staff died after getting infected. And the other 79 health workers who are currently in severe condition due to the coronavirus disease will receive Php 100,000.00 each next week.

These are all indicated under the Bayanihan To Heal As One law. Some senators during a Senate plenary session have lambasted the delay of the benefits and even President Rodrigo Duterte said that it is “totally unacceptable” as per report.
