Halsey Joins Protests Demanding Justice for George Floyd
HALSEY – Singer-songwriter and activist Halsey Halsey joined George Floyd protest and provided medical aid to injured people.
On May 25, 2020, an African-American named George Floyd died after a police officer named Derek Chauvin kneeled on his neck. People around the area caught the disturbing incident on camera.
The white cop had his knee on Floyd’s neck for 8 minutes and 46 seconds. Floyd’s death triggered a widespread protest. In a report, police officers had a clash with protesters outside the White House.
The authorities fired tear gas to disperse the demonstrators. Several celebrities reacted to the 46-year-old man’s death. One of them is Michael Jordan. The NBA legend said, “we have had enough.”
On Sunday afternoon, American actor Cole Sprouse said he was arrested while protesting for George Floyd in Santa Monica, California. The ‘Riverdale’ actor said the cops blocked and zip-tied him and his fellow protesters.
American singer-songwriter Halsey also joined the protest. Based on her latest Instagram post, she is among the thousands of people who joined the peaceful protest in the US. However, their peaceful protest later became violent.
The ‘Without Me’ singer said cops started shooting, throwing tear gasses, and physically assaulting her fellow protesters. She also shared photos of herself providing aid to the protestors. She urged the government and the people to listen to the black people.
“The police are keeping you safe right? You’re wrong. This is happening everywhere. And innocent people exercising their rights to speech and assembly are facing violence and abuse of power,” she wrote.
