In lieu of this, the White House held a press conference regarding the current state of COVID-19. However, video or audio was banned during the press conference.

Previously, there have been several reports of confirmed coronavirus cases in the United States. An individual from Washington Country had tested positive for the new coronavirus.

During the conference, the New York Times’ Katie Rogers asked why the briefing wasn’t public. However, a concrete answer wasn’t given to her.

Likewise, CNN’s Jim Acosta asked Vice President Mike Pence why audio and video weren’t allowed. Pence said that he “expects we’ll be back on camera tomorrow”.

During the conference, Pence told media personnel that there were 77 domestic cases of COVID-19. Additionally, there were nine domestic deaths.

He also stated that there are confirmed cases of COVID-19 in thirteen states, including New York City. This added up to 14 jurisdictions.

The Vice President then emphasized that any American can be tested for the virus without restriction if ordered by the doctor.

Following this, Dr. Anthony Fauci, head of the National Institute of Allergy and Infectious Diseases said health professionals are prioritizing safety.

He also added that even at “rocket speed”, the development of a cure for the new coronavirus could take a year-and-a-half.

The whole process is going to take a year, a year and a half, at least.

We can’t see the future. We really don’t know this virus very well

What we do know for sure is that in the right settings, it does have the potential to move quickly.
