Month-Long Remote Enrollment Starts In Philippines As GCQ Starts
PUBLIC SCHOOL ENROLLMENT – A Month-long remote enrollment starts as the capital of the Philippines eases quarantine protocols.
Amid the coronavirus pandemic, the Department of Education is looking at alternatives for learning. One of the measures they wanted to take was the implementation of remote learning or “non-physical” learning.
According to a report from ABS-CBN, classes are expected to take place mostly at homes on August 24. As such, schools would offer a curriculum that caters to this new method of teaching to provide safety for both faculty and the students.
Instead of face-to-face interactions, schools are now offering printable take-home modules. Additionally, learning could be done through the use of conferencing apps such as zoom.
However, as per the report, schools have now began an unprecedented turn of events with remote enrollment. DepEd stated:
Physical enrollment in schools or other similar activity shall be highly discouraged, even in low risk areas. The first two weeks shall completely be remote enrollment, where there will absolutely be no face-to-face
Moreover, the education department emphasized that physical enrollment would only be allowed on the third week and must be in coordination with the school’s local government units.
Additionally, students must be contacted by their class adviser from the previous school year. However, parents may also reach out to the teachers.
Meanwhile, for students enrolled in Kindergarten, as well as drop-outs returning to schools, and those under the alternative learning system, they could get in touch regarding enrollment through focal persons assigned by the schools.
