Coronavirus Second Wave Is Possible & It Would Be Due To This Reason

In Philippines, Coronavirus second wave could be caused by this reason.

CORONAVIRUS SECOND WAVE – Carlito Galvez, Jr. revealed possible reason behind if ever a second wave of coronavirus disease will happen.

Philippines, as of May 21, has the following coronvirus-related figures: 13,434 confirmed cases, 3,000 recoveries, and 846 deaths. And Carlito Galvez, Jr., chief implementer of the national policy against COVID-19 said that the government is preparing in case a second wave happens.

Coronavirus Second Wave

And according to him, the second wave might happen coming from arriving overseas Filipino workers from countries which are infected. OFWs coming from countries like United States, Italy, Spain, and parts of the Middle East might cause spike of confirmed cases as soon as they come back to our country.

“Sa nakita natin ngayon, ang ating OFWs, we are receiving more than 30,000 and they came from affected areas na katulad ng US, Italy, Spain and other part of Middle East. So ‘yun ang tinitingnan natin, doon magkakaroon tayo ng tinatawag na possible na second wave,” he said during Laging Handa Briefing as per GMA.

A special task group to handle the repatriation is now preparing as returning OFWs need to be tested immediately upon arrival. Also, out of 30,000 newly-arrived OFWs, more or less 600 have tested positive. For him, the country is still on its first wave due to local transmission.

Meanwhile, Health Secretary Francisco Duque III previously claimed that the Philippines is now on its second wave but experts say we’re not past the first wave yet. Globally, the total confirmed case is now over 5 million with 334,698 deaths and 2,084,704 recoveries as of this writing.
