DOH COVID-19 Records Amid Global Pandemic

DOH – The Department of Health released the COVID-19 records in the Philippines as of today, May 20.

Currently, at least three (3) areas in the Philippines are under a Modified Enhanced Community Quarantine (MECQ) due to the COVID-19 crisis. These areas are Cebu City, Metro Manila, and the province of Laguna.

The rest of the country are under a General Community Quarantine (GCQ) as per the announcement of the Palace. Everyone is advised to stay at home if not for very essential purposes.

Also, it is now a protocol to wear mask when you are going outdoors. Social distancing must be observed at all times – even in public transportation. The vehicle capacity was reduced to pave the way for social distancing inside the jeepneys and tricycles.

DOH Update

In his latest COVID-19 briefing, President Rodrigo Roa Duterte expressed that some countries are already close to finding a vaccine for the disease. He is now looking for funds to purchase it once it is available.

COVID-19 can rapidly spread in a crowd. A person may even be positive for the disease but not show any symptoms at all. This is why everyone must not put their guards down as the fight is not yet over.

Recently, the Department of Health (DOH) recorded 279 new cases of COVID-19 in the Philippines. It brings the total coronavirus cases confirmed in the country to 13,221.

The health department reported 5 new deaths because of COVID-19. The death toll is now at 842 while 89 patients have recently recovered bringing the total recoveries to 2,932.
