Man Creates ‘Cuddle Curtain’ to Give Grandma Warm Hug Safely
CUDDLE CURTAIN – A man has found an ingenious way of giving his favorite grandmother a warm hug despite the threat of COVID-19.
A 29-year-old plasterer named Antony Cauvin created a see-through shower curtain with arms for him and his relatives to cuddle safely amid the threat of coronavirus disease (COVID-19) threat. He created this as he wants to hug his grandmother who was apart from him for almost months.
The ‘cuddle curtain’ has long safety sleeves on either side where people can hug and cuddle each other without skin-to-skin or breath contact. Antony already tested his invention with his wife Miriam before anybody else, based on the article of 9Gag.
His wife, Miriam filmed the heart-warming moment of Antony and his grandma finally hugged each other again. The video was uploaded on Facebook and went viral as it reaches millions of views and thousands of shares.
The footage captures Lily’s satisfaction as she managed to hug her grandson for the first time in months without seeing Antony and without fear of spreading the virus. Antony assured that the sleeves and curtains were disinfected after each hug to protect the next hugger.
He also added that anyone using it should wear their own pair of available gloves for added safety. He has left it in his grandparents’ garden so that their seven other grandchildren and three great-grandchildren can come along for their own cuddles.
“When you’ve known someone all your life, to be able to hug that person again… it brought a tear to everybody’s eye,” said Antony, who promises “Grannan” was not harmed.
“But we were also giggling that much, just because it seemed such a far-fetched and bonkers idea. We never touched any part of Grannan at all – I’m a believer in social distancing and don’t want to put anyone at risk,” he added.
