NBI Summons Vice Pres. Sara Duterte over Remarks against Marcos Jr.
SARA DUTERTE – The lawyer of the Vice President, Attorney Paul Lim, said his client could not appear before the National Bureau of Investigation (NBI) today.
The recent tirades of Vice Pres. Duterte against the Marcoses hooked the authorities. The NBI has released a subpoena for Duterte ordering her to appear and explain her statement against the President.
Vice Pres. Sara Duterte claimed that her “final wish” is the deaths of Pres. Bongbong Marcos, First Lady Liza Marcos, and House Speaker Martin Romualdez if ever a supposed plot against her becomes successful. She claimed that the Marcos government allegedly wants her removed from her position.
The House is currently investigating the budget utilization of the Confidential Funds of the Department of Education (DepEd) and the Office of the Vice President (OVP). However, the Vice President purposely skipped several hearings.
Duterte also did not hesitate to continuously throw remarks against Marcos Jr. The National Bureau of Investigation ordered here to appear at their headquarters today to explain her statement against the President.
Prior to the scheduled date for her appearance at the NBI, the Vice President claimed that she asked for her appearance at the investigation bureau to be postponed as she will prioritize the House hearing over her offices’ budget use.
However, the House panel decided to give way to the summons of the NBI to Vice Pres. Sara Duterte. It decided to reschedule the hearing citing that the NBI issue is a matter of national security. The committee also does not want them to appear as the reason why she was not able to appear and explain her statement that alarmed several entities and people.
However, despite the House hearing being postponed, based on a report on GMA News, Vice Pres. Sara Duterte could still not make it to appear for the summons sent by the NBI. Her unavailability was confirmed by her lawyer.
“Hindi po siya makakarating today,” Atty. Paul Lim said.
The lawyer of the Vice President did not elaborate on the reasons why his client cannot appear and explain her side today. She has sent a letter to the investigation bureau asking for the rescheduling of her appearance to December 11 as the tentative date.
Based on a report on ABS-CBN News, NBI Director Jaime Santiago claimed that it was already late when Vice Pres. Sara Duterte found out that the House hearing is cancelled. Santiago said the Vice President was no longer able to go to the NBI for the resetting of the schedule.
“Late na niya nalaman na canceled ang kaniyang appearance before the House committee hearing. Hindi na siya nakapunta dito and asked for a resetting,” the NBI Director said.
Amid the several issues surrounding the Vice President, a member of the House confirmed that an impeachment complaint is rolling in the House against VP Sara Duterte.
