Authorities Arrested Man in Pasay for Allegedly Punching PWD
Authorities in Pasay City arrested a man for allegedly attacking a person with a disability (PWD) in an unprovoked incident.
PWD stands for Person with Disability. It refers to individuals who have long-term physical, mental, intellectual, or sensory impairments that may hinder their full and effective participation in society on an equal basis with others.
In many countries, including the Philippines, PWDs are entitled to certain rights and privileges, such as accessibility to public services, education, healthcare, and employment opportunities. They may also receive benefits like discounts on goods and services, especially in transportation, medicine, and other essentials.
Recently, a PWD victim, who was simply out to buy food, was punched without warning, leaving his family shocked and confused.
According to the victim’s child, the 23-year-old suspect approached their father while he was purchasing food. Without any apparent reason, the suspect suddenly punched the PWD and immediately ran away after the attack.
“Pagkatapos siyang suntukin, bigla na lang tumakbo ‘yung suspek,” the victim’s child said.
The family couldn’t understand what prompted the violent act, as there had been no prior interaction between the two.
Police acted quickly, apprehending the suspect soon after the incident. However, communicating with him proved challenging, as he openly admitted to using illegal drugs. His erratic behavior raised concerns about his mental state and potential motives for the assault.

The incident points out the dangers posed by drug abuse and the importance of addressing these issues to ensure public safety.
