According to ABS-CBN, the local city fire station reported that 60 houses were completely destroyed by the fire while 12 more houses were partially burned.

The fire also affected 100 families, who are currently in evacuation centers.

Investigations from the Bureau of Fire Protection said that around 2 AM, the fire began in a house owned by Virginia Galong.

It’s been about 2 months since the owner was unable to return home since she is stranded in Guimaras, which is under lockdown due to COVID-19.

The BPD added that the fire was caused by an electrical short circuit and lasted for about an hour before it was declared under control by the fire fighters,

As per the report, most of the houses were made of light materials, which caused the fire to spread fast.

The BFP added that the properties damaged by fire might worth at about about ₱1 million.
