To curb the spread of COVID-19 in the country, community quarantines are implemented. Areas considered as high risk for the disease are currently under an Enhanced Community Quarantine (ECQ).

As per the recommendation of the National Inter-Agency Task Force against COVID-19 which gained the approval of President Rodrigo Roa Duterte, low and medium risk places are currently under a General Community Quarantine (GCQ).

The ECQ and the GCQ measures in the different areas in the country are set to expire this May 15. In the recent advisory from the Palace, it is stated that places that are at low risk for coronavirus do not anymore need to implement a community quarantine.

Recently, changes in line with the decision of the national government over community quarantine measures in the Philippines crossed the surface. Based on a post of TV Patrol Negros, all low risk areas will be placed under a Modified General Community Quarantine.

According to Department of Interior and Local Government (DILG) Secretary Eduardo Año, the Modified General Community Quarantine on places considered as low risk for coronavirus will start this May 16 – after the expiry of the existing quarantine measures.

Based on the post, the Modified GCQ includes Bacolod City and the province of Negros Occidental. The city has previously decided to not anymore appeal for an extension of the ECQ or the downgrading of the measure to a GCQ while provincial Governor Bong Lacson sought for the GCQ extension until May 31.

As of this writing, there are still no further information regarding the provisions under the Modified GCQ. Also, it was yet to be stated as to until when the said measure will last. More updates may be posted soon.
