Sharon Cuneta Says They’re Fighting ABS-CBN Shutdown, Not PH Government, Duterte
SHARON CUNETA – ABS-CBN actress Sharon Cuneta said their fight is not against President Rodrigo Roa Duterte and his administration but for the withdrawal of the National Telecommunications Commission’s (NTC) closure order.
The National Telecommunications Commission (NTC) issued a cease and desist order against the ABS-CBN network. It forced the largest tv network in the Philippines to halt its tv and radio broadcasts.
Almost all of the Kapamilya celebrities reacted to the closure of the media company. Among these artists are Coco Martin, Angel Locsin, Judy Ann Santos, and Bela Padilla. They said the closure order of the NTC affected the livelihood of 11,000 ABS-CBN employees.
The agency reasoned out that they just allowed other broadcasting companies to air because their franchise was not being questioned, unlike the Kapamilya network.
In a report, singer-actress Sharon Cuneta broke down in tears after the media network went off the air. She expressed her concern about the welfare of the workers who just lost their job amid the COVID-19 pandemic.
Sharon Cuneta’s daughter Franki Pangilinan jokingly offered her a job as an intern. The Megastar was quick to respond to her daughter’s Tweet saying “Yes please! Gimme stuff to do and you won’t have to pay me! In fact, why do I get the feeling that I might be the only intern in the world who will fund her boss’ projects?! I love you! Please gimme a JOB!”
On Monday, May 11, Sharon Cuneta took to her Instagram account to clarify that she and her fellow celebrities are not engaging in a fight with the Philippine government and President Rodrigo Roa Duterte.
The 54-year-old celebrity told her followers they were only against the closure order from the NTC. She said her stand was similar to their bosses.
“Mga kaibigan at Kapamilya, Gusto lang po namin linawin na we at ABS-CBN are not fighting the President. We are fighting to withdraw the Cease and Desist order issued by the NTC…”
“Galing din po sa Boss namin yan. Para lang po malinaw. Salamat po,” she wrote.
