Read Bela Padilla’s Deep, Meaningful Sentiments On ABS-CBN’s Untimely Shutdown
BELA PADILLA – Here’s Bela Padilla’s deep and meaningful sentiments regarding the ABS-CBN network’s untimely shutdown.
Filipina actress screenwriter and film producer Bela Padilla is among the famous Pinay showbiz personalities. Her Metro Manila Film Festival (MMFF) 2019 entry “Miracle in Cell No. 7” is one of the top grosser movies.
The 29-year-old celebrity has been on the Kapamilya network for years now. Her tv network was recently ordered to stop broadcasting on tv and radio following the cease and desist order from the National Telecommunication Commission (NTC).
Bela Padilla was among the ABS-CBN stars who reacted after the closure of the largest tv network in the Philippines. During the “Laban, Kapamilya” live chat, she expressed her sentiments regarding the controversial shutdown.
The prominent actress broke down in tears when she recalled her journey as an actress and the media network’s impact on her family. She acknowledged the right of its talents to express their feelings and thoughts.
Bela Padilla argued that justice was not served because ABS-CBN was not given a chance to clear its name and thousands of employees lost their livelihood in the process. Read her deep and meaningful statements below:
“Kung tatanggalin na po natin lahat ng emosyon namin, that we deserve to say and that are all valid; kung tatanggalin na natin ‘yun sa equation lahat ng ‘yun. Lagi niyo pong sinasabi sa amin ‘dura lex sed lex’. The law is the law. The law may be harsh, but it is the law. Okay. That is the end of your argument all the time.”
“It’s the same way na pwede nating sabihin na ang kutsara ay kutsara, pero para saan ba ang kutsara? Kapag sinabi natin na a paintbrush is a paintbrush, para saan ba ang paintbrush? We are trying to paint a bigger picture. We are trying to produce something. So what does the law stand for here? The law is supposed to serve out justice, give out justice.”
“The fact of the matter is, on May 5, justice was not served for 11,000 Kapamilyas and the people who depend on ABS-CBN for information, for entertainment. You took out our right to seek out justice.”
“For me, we do not end our arguments with ‘the law is the law’. It’s what does the law do for us, the citizens, the taxpayers?” Bela said.
