Babajie Death – How true is it that three hospitals in Pasay City refused to admit the comedian?

Alfredo Cornejo Jr., popularly known as Babajie in the Kapuso gag show Bubble Gang surfaced on the news on May 2 when his family clarified that death reports were false. At that time, the comedian was still confined at the San Lazaro Hospital.

However, unfortunately, on May 5, it was reported that he already passed away due to pneumonia.

Apparently, that was not the only devastating thing that happened to him and his family. Based on the article by entertainment columnist Ronnie Carrasco III, Babajie was not admitted by three hospitals in Pasay City.

It was said that since Babajie is living in Pasay, his family first rushed him to a hospital near them. The comedian’s health went a drastic down fall, according to his family.

However, the medical attention that they need during that time was not given to them. Based on the article, the comedian and his family roamed around Pasay riding the barangay patrol finding the hospital that would admit them but they were refused. Because of that refusal, they had to go to San Lazaro Hospital in Manila.

Republic Act No. 8344 stated: “In emergency or serious cases, it shall be unlawful for any proprietor, president, director, manager or any other officer, and/or medical practitioner or employee of a hospital or medical clinic to request, solicit, demand or accept any deposit or any other form of advance payment as a prerequisite for confinement or medical treatment of a patient in such hospital or medical clinic or to refuse to administer medical treatment and support as dictated by good practice of medicine to prevent death or permanent disability”
