Statement of Director Peque Gallaga Over the Filmmaker’s Death
DIRECTOR PEQUE GALLAGA – The family of the legendary filmmaker released a statement over his death.
Yesterday, Dr. Ricky Gallaga confirmed that his brother, filmmaker Peque Gallaga, died. He died at Riverside Medical Center in Bacolod City, Negros Occidental.
Direk Peque is a legendary multi-awarded filmmaker. One of his masterpieces, the Oro, Plata, Mata, has gained national and international recognition and many look up to the vision of the director shown in his films.
Direk Peque Gallaga was residing in Bacolod together with his wife, Madie. His passing left countless hearts broken as he has touched many lives most especially those of the young artists.
The legendary filmmaker reportedly died of pneumonia and conditions from his past health conditions. A lot of people extended their condolences and prayers for his widow and their family.
Based on a report of When In Manila, Director Peque Gallaga’s family has released a statement over the death of the filmmaker. They described him as “a visionary and artist; a loving husband, father, and grandfather; and a dear friend”.
Director Peque Gallaga’s family stated that he has brought joy to many people and he will always live in his memories with them and in his art. Based on the article, the family of the legendary filmmaker also expressed their gratitude to everyone who reached out to them and sent them prayers and they request for privacy.
The family of Direk Peque expressed that there will be no funeral services as safety precautions. His remains will be cremated based on the wish of the late filmmaker and his family.
