Director Peque Gallaga’s Brother Confirmed the Filmmaker Died

Director Peque Gallaga died this morning, May 7, 2020, as confirmed by his brother, Dr. Ricky Gallaga.

In the Philippine entertainment industry, one of the most prominent filmmakers is Peque Gallaga. He is multi-awarded and has not only received recognition in the country but as well as abroad.

Direk Peque is famous for his film “Oro, Plata, Mata” – one of the many masterpieces of the filmmaker. The said masterpiece has gained multiple awards from the Manila International Film Festival, International Film Festival of Flanders-Ghent in Belgium, and 2004 Gawad CCP Para sa Sining.

Direk Peque spent his early education in Manila, specifically at the De La Salle University, and finished a degree at the University of St. La Salle in Bacolod. He took Bachelor’s in Commerce and Liberal Arts.

The filmmaker is married to his wife, Madie. They reside in Bacolod City, Negros Occidental. Recently, there were reports that he was hospitalized.

Sadly, based on a post of The Visayan Daily Star, Director Peque Gallaga died this morning, May 7. It was confirmed by his brother, Dr. Ricky Gallaga.

The brilliant filmmaker was confined and died at Riverside Medical Center. As of this writing, there are still no updates as to the cause of death of the filmmaker.
