Megastar Sharon Cuneta reaction as her home network shuts down.
SHARON CUNETA – Veteran actress and Megastar Sharon Cuneta emotional and crying as her home network, ABS-CBN, shut down on May 5.
The National Telecommunications Commission (NTC) issued cease and desist order versus ABS-CBN network to go off air as their franchise has already expired. Many hearts got broken after the news has erupted and what most people are concerned about is not about losing their source of entertainment but to the persons behind the camera who lost their jobs and their families who are ultimately affected.
And veteran actress and Megastar Sharon Cuneta cried as her network for over 30 years signed off. She was crying and emotional. Her heart is breaking after seeing that her home network shut down in a snap that evening. Other ABS-CBN artists were also breaking.
“There are tens and thousands of employees who are gonna lose their jobs. And I cannot take that,” the Megastar said according to PEP and there are around 11,000 employees in the ABS-CBN. Also, she condemned the act as it was done in time where there are a lot of things to prioritize more than closing down a media company.
“There’s so much going on na, there is COVID thing, this virus… parang wrong timing. Kasi ang daming natutulungan ng Kapamilya. Tapos yung staff namin mismo at crew, sila yung mawawalan ng trabaho,” she accordingly said while crying.
She even joked around that it’s okay for her to lose her job because everyone knows she is millionaire. But what’s hurting her are the staff and crew who work in the company. She was also shocked because it was so sudden that prior the cease and desist order, the network was assured to have the provisional authority to operate after operation but it did not happen.
