Philippine Senator Sonny Angara is coronavirus positive again several weeks after his recovery.
SONNY ANGARA CORONAVIRUS – Politician and senator Sonny Angara has tested positive again for coronavirus disease and here’s his statement.
During the first week of April, Philippine Senator Sonny Angara, according to previous report, has announced recovery after contracting the deadly and highly contagious Coronavirus Disease 2019 or also called as COVID-19. And now, roughly a month after that announcement, unfortunately, he tested positive again after undergoing several tests to confirm his condition.
He was about to donate his plasma because he is one of the recovered patients but after receiving the result of his swab test, it showed positive. His doctors,unsure but suspected that it was the remnants of the earlier virus and also said that he is no longer infectious.
The senator is doing the third wave of his self-quarantine just to be sure and a precaution although his wife tested negative. He said in his statement, “It was hard being isolated from my family before when I tested positive. I felt so much joy and happiness when I was cleared and was able to kiss and hug them again. Now, I’m back in isolation. I am hopeful that soon our lives will return to normal.”
Through teleconferencing, he will still participate in the Senate which basically means he will work from home. He could not afford to expose his fellow politicians to the risks. He will still perform his duty as a senator despite being sick.
Meanwhile, other senators who also got infected of the disease but have recovered already were Migz Zubiri and Aquilino Pimentel III. As of May 3, the country now has a total confirmed cases at 9,223 with 1,214 recoveries and 607 deaths.
