Blind Couple Fails To Receive SAP Cash Aid Amid Health Crisis
MANILA, PHILIPPINES – A blind couple who usually performs along the street to earn money failed to receive SAP cash aid and quarantine passes amid health crisis.
The blind couple Jessie and Norma Morante have been known for their awesome performance along the streets, which is their primary source of income but their livelihood has been affected due to the enhanced community quarantine.
Morante couple revealed that they have failed to receive the social amelioration cash given by the government. Barangay officials told them that they are not included on the list of SAP beneficiaries because they are not registered in the barangay.
The lover did not also receive a quarantine pass prompting a supermarket to deny their entry although they are considered as “Persons with disabilities”. They have already spent their savings over the entire quarantine period.
“Napakahirap kasi dapat gobyerno priority PWD tulad namin,” Jessie said.
“Minsan di kami kumakain. Wala [kaming] matakbuhan, walang magulang, walang tutulong sa amin dalawa,” Norma added.
The city government of Parañaque also promised to send help towards the PWD couple.
