There are surely many reasons why we have oily skin. As such are stress, humidity, genetics, and fluctuating hormones. However, the ones that’s caused by genetics or hormones is tough to prevent. Proper and consistent skin care and avoiding unhealthy foods may help, on the other hand.

So, for your oily face, here’s what to do at your home to control it:

  • Wash your face and use gentle products such as glycerin soap for your skin.
  • Use honey because it has antibacterial and antiseptic abilities which is good for oily and acne-prone type of skin. Put a raw honey on your and let it sit still to dry for 10 minutes. Then wash with warm water.
  • Applying 1/2 cup of oatmeal with hot water and 1 tablespoon honey to your skin. Leave it there for 10–15 minutes OR massage for three minutes and rinse with warm water.
  • Put a thin layer of Aloe Vera to your skin before bed time and leave it there until morning.
  • Make a tomato exfoliating mask out of 1 teaspoon sugar and pulp of 1 tomato. Apply to skin in circular motion, leave it for five minutes and rinse with warm water thoroughly as per Health Line.

As per dermatologists based on American Academy of Dermatology, they have the following tips to control an oily skin:

  1. Washing of face every morning, night, and after exercise.
  2. Using “oil free” and “noncomedogenic” skin products.
  3. Opt for gentle and foaming face wash.
  4. Avoid oil-based or alcohol-based cleansers.
  5. Moisturize daily.
  6. Apply sunscreen all the time.
  7. Choose oil-free and water-based makeup.
  8. Always clean your face before sleeping.
  9. Use blotting papers.
  10. Don’t touch your face.
