Manila Mayor Isko Moreno expressed that putting Tondo under a lockdown due to COVID-19 must be carefully studied. He stressed that it is the source of many products including vegetables, fishes, and meats.

“They have preferred dates because hindi masyadong magagambala ‘yung operation nila. Kasi may study na ibinigay sa amin ang port operators,” he said based on the report.

The other possible date for the possible locking down of Tondo is May 2 and May 3. Mayor Isko assured the residents of Tondo that they will be supplied with food in case it will push through.

Also, the Manila City Mayor assured the other districts that they will also be receiving the assistance that will be given to residents in Tondo. In case it will be pushed through, Tondo is next to Sampaloc as areas in Manila placed under a hard lockdown over coronavirus.
