DSWD Confirms Dead People Still Received Cash from SAP
Department of Social Welfare and Development (DSWD) confirms that the people that are already dead still received cash said from SAP.
Since the Philippines was stricken by the coronavirus disease (COVID-19), the government is already distributing relief goods and giving cash aid or known as the Social Amelioration Program to help the residents whose jobs were affected by the lockdown protocols.
Under the social amelioration program of the DSWD, assistance will be given to low-income households, including senior citizens, persons with a disability, single parents, overseas Filipinos in distress, and pregnant mothers.
Meanwhile, DSWD Secretary Rolando Bautista revealed that some people received the SAP cash assistance even though they are already dead. In the laging handa public press briefing, Rolando Bautista said that these are just a few of the many complaints that have come to his office.
Bautista said that by cheating, the exploiters were able to withdraw SAP financial assistance from the government. As such, the secretary warned the recipients that could be dealt with by this type of fraud as well as the Local Chief Executives.
Bautista also reminds people who withdraw cash aid to return the remaining money especially those who are not eligible for assistance so that it can be distributed to those in need. This month, there are some honest people who already returned the cash, while others returned it in fear of being jailed.
