PH Ambassador Confirms 5 Pinoys in Saudi Arabia Dies Due to Infection Related to Coronavirus

PINOYS IN SAUDI ARABIA – Five (5) Filipinos in Saudi Arabia died due to coronavirus-related infection.

Currently, several countries across the globe are implementing measures to prevent the spread of coronavirus. Officially called as COVID-19, more than 200 nations have confirmed cases of this pandemic.

According to the World Health Organization (WHO), it is going to be a long-term battle against COVID-19. This disease was first recorded in China last December 2019.

Starting January 2020, cases of COVID-19 were recorded in several countries across the globe. Many nations locked their borders to prevent the spread of the infection.

One of the countries with confirmed cases of coronavirus is Saudi Arabia. It is no secret to the public that a lot of Filipinos are working in the Middle Eastern country.

Sadly, recently, five (5) Pinoys in Saudi Arabia died of coronavirus-related infection. Based on a report on GMA News, it was confirmed by Philippine Ambassador to Saudi Arabia Adnan Alonto.

The five (5) fatalities are among the 199 Filipinos in the Middle Eastern country who were recorded to have a COVID-19-related infection. Based on the report, the PH Ambassador assured that overseas Filipino workers (OFWs) are given food assistance most especially those who are in the no-work-no-pay working scheme.

Furthermore, Alonto expressed that repatriation flights were arranged for those OFWs who are stranded abroad.
