Volunteers Wear ‘Stormtrooper’ Costumes While Helping Police Goes Viral

CEBU CITY – volunteers wear ‘Stormtrooper’ costumes while helping law enforcers checking the temperature of motorists in Consolacion town.

In a Facebook post of CNN Philippines, two characters of famous ‘Star Wars’ movie was spotted in a check-up point. According to the post, they are volunteers who help police officers manning the checkpoint.

The 501st Cebu Scarif Garrison was the group behind the ‘Star Wars’ costumes as they were also participating in floats paraded during the annual Sinulog Festival. They said, by deploying these galactic soldiers, this aims to lighten up the mood at the checkpoints.

Fortunately, people had a good reaction to the activity,” Christian Bacus, a volunteer leader, tells CNN Philippines. He also added that there are four volunteers who are in shift daily for at least an hour. “Why only one hour? It’s very hot inside the costume.”

The galactic soldiers have gone viral on social media and earned various reactions from the netizens. However, some netizens have doubts because these soldiers are known for bad shooting skills and missing their targets.
