Governor Lacson To Continue Modified ECQ in Negros Occidental For 1 More Week

GOVERNOR LACSON – Negros Occidental Gov. Eugenio “Bong” Lacson spoke on the fate of the modified Enhanced Community Quarantine (ECQ) in the province.

Negros Occidental is one of the provinces in Visayas implementing the Enhanced Community Quarantine or ECQ. Starting April 20, it was modified and more exemptions were added.

However, there are now new cases of COVID-19 in the province. The authorities are doing the contact tracing after a man from La Castellana tested positive for coronavirus.

Also, the province received the result of a 69-year-old man who died in the Regional Hospital last April 9. The late patient from Bacolod City also tested positive for the disease.

Last night, the Negros Occidental capitol confirmed that two (2) more new cases of coronavirus were confirmed in the province. The patients are among those who overseas Filipino workers (OFWs) repatriated.

Negros Occidental is not one of the provinces proposed for ECQ extension based on the recent national address of President Rodrigo Roa Duterte. Several high-risk areas will be under an extended ECQ until May 15.

On the part of Governor Lacson, based on a recent post on SunStar Bacolod News, the Governor will extend the Modified ECQ in the province for one (1) more week after April 30. No further details were released yet.
