Sarangani Hit by Earthquake with 3.6 Magnitude
EARTHQUAKE – The Philippine Institute of Volcanology and Seismology (Phivolcs) recorded a 3.6 magnitude quake in Sarangani, April 21, 2020.
Most of the time, quakes hit with no prior signs. Recently, several places in and out of the Philippines were shaken by quakes of different magnitudes.
One of the strong quakes recorded by Phivolcs is the 7.1 magnitude quake in Davao Oriental. There were expected aftershocks due to the said quake and a tsunami advisory was released.
Previously, in April 22, Phivolcs recorded a quake in a part of Zambales. It had a magnitude of 6.1. Strong shaking were felt leaving people fearing about the so-called “Big One“.
Phivolcs recorded a 5.6 magnitude quake in Makilala, North Cotabato at around 8 pm on July 9. It was followed by several aftershocks.
Recently, a quake has hit a part of Sarangani. At 03:27 am, April 21, 2020, Maasim was hit by an earthquake with a magnitude of 3.6.
According to Phivolcs, the quake that hit a part of Sarangani was located at 05.51°North, 124.93°East – 040 km South 13° West of Maasim. The quake was tectonic in origin and had a depth of 037 kilometers.
Phivolcs stated in a bulletin that there are no expected damages caused by the quake and as well as aftershocks. The following instrumental intensity(s) were recorded:
