BuCor Says 19 People from Correctional Institution for Women Tested Positive for COVID-19

CORRECTIONAL INSTITUTION – 19 people from the correctional facility for women in Mandaluyong tested positive for COVID-19.

The Philippines now is one of the over 200 countries battling against the threats of coronavirus. Officially called as COVID-19, strict measures have to be done to contain its spread.

In PH, there are now over six (6) thousand cases of coronavirus confirmed in the country. According to the Department of Health (DOH), the number may continue to rise as more testings are done now.

Among the most crucial places to be hit by a disease like COVID-19 are jails, detention centers, and correctional facilities. Sadly, it may be hard to practice social distancing in such areas without strict implementation of measures.

Correctional Institution Mandaluyong

Recently, the Bureau of Corrections (BuCor) gave an update related to coronavirus in PH. Based on a post of Manila Bulletin, BuCor reported that 19 people from the Correctional Institution for Women in Mandaluyong tested positive for COVID-19.

Of the said 19 people, 18 of them are prisoners while one of them is a staff of BuCor. Based on the post, they had a contact with the 72-year-old inmate who was confirmed positive for coronavirus last April 18.

As of this writing, there are still no further information over the matter. More updates may be posted soon.
