DepEd Floats Idea Of e-Graduation For Students Amid Coronavirus Crisis

e-GRADUATION FOR STUDENTS – Thousands of students missed their opportunity graduate due to the effects of COVID-19.

Graduation day is something that students long for, especially in the Philippines. Furthermore, it is the symbol of the culmination of all their years of sacrifice, hard work, and perseverance.

But, because of the deadly virus spreading, all graduations throughout schools in the country were canceled this graduation season. As such, thousands of students who have waited their entire lives for this moment was in dismay.

However, according to an article from ABS-CBN, the Department of Education (DepEd) said they might allow an e-Graduation. Since the start of the coronavirus crisis, some schools had passed applications to hold e-Graduations to DepEd.

Supposedly, the graduation ceremonies were supposed to be held in the early weeks of April. Meanwhile, some had scheduled their graduations in the last weeks of March.

As per the article, Malaluan also talked about their education continuity plan which he called “new terrain”. Additionally, he said that DepEd is now considering what a student can do while on vacation.

Because of the spread of COVID-19 in the Philippines, President Rodrigo Duterte imposed an enhanced community quarantine (ECQ) on Luzon. As such, around 50 million residents of the island were affected.

Moreover, the ECQ had extended until April 30. But, the President also stated that if residents continue to be undisciplined when it comes to the quarantine protocol, he might impose a total lockdown.
