Poor Village Frontliners Qualified to Get SAP Cash Aid, DSWD Says

The Department of Social Welfare and Development announced that the poor village frontliners are qualified to get SAP cash aid.

Earlier this week, DSWD said that village front-line workers including barangay tanods, health workers, and daycare workers are qualified for the Social Amelioration Program to be given by the government.

The government is considering the plead to include the village workers to the beneficiaries of cash assistance, according to DSWD Assistant Secretary Rhea Peñaflor. She also said that DILG Undersecretary Jonathan Malaya brings the recommendation to DSWD Secretary Rolando Bautista.

“This means that our ‘tanod’, health workers, and daycare workers are included in the target beneficiaries provided they have no other source of income or have low income,” Peñaflor said.

Peñaflor explained that village workers who could not provide the necessities of their families could qualify for the Social Amelioration Program if some recipients would not be counted on the business.

However, the people whose names were excluded from the list of beneficiaries but have no or low budget during the quarantine period could file an appeal to the city’s social welfare, according to Peñaflor.
