CHED to Hold Online Graduation Amidst the COVID-19 Crisis
Commission on Higher Education (CHED) urge colleges and universities to hold online graduation amidst the coronavirus disease crisis (COVID-19).
Due to existing enhanced community quarantine and lockdown throughout the country to contain the spread of the coronavirus disease 2019 (COVID-19), class and graduations have been suspended.
Graduands or graduating students are upset because the once in a lifetime event is cancelled due to the crisis. Other pursue their graduation but only held in their houses.
Meanwhile, in a report of ABS-CBN News, the chairperson of the Commission on Higher Education (CHED) encouraged colleges and universities to be “imaginative” or creative in conducting graduations amidst the coronavirus disease crisis (COVID-19) in the country.
According to CHED Chairperson Prospero De Vera, the graduating students will be able to received their diplomas in the coming months. It is also possible to conduct an online graduation or hold a graduation ceremony once the situation is controlled by COVID-19, De Vera said.
“They can send their diplomas already or give the diplomas to their graduating students now or within the next one or 2 months, and do a ceremonial graduation later in the future,” De Vera said.
