Three Persons Caught In San Jose, Antique For Illegal Cockfighting
SAN JOSE – Three individuals were arrested in a barangay in San Jose de Buenavista, Antique, for engaging in an illegal cockfighting.
According to Panay News, the three individuals engaged in a cockfighting in Barangay Magcalon in the said town in the province of Antique. Police added that they were arrested on April 10 (Friday).
They are identified as Pilosopo, aged 54, Rizalday Lamprea, aged 32 of Barangay Mojon, and Exequiel Canja, aged 32, of Barangay Guisijan, Lau-an.
The local police further added that retrieved from the possession of the three suspects were game fowls and bet cash which amounts to about ₱700.
As per the report, the men are currently imprisoned in a lockup cell of the local municipal police station. They will be further charged for violatimg Presidential Decree 1602, which also orders stricter penalties on illegal gambling.
They will also be charged for violating guidelines of the enhanced community quarantine (ECQ) for coronavirus disease 2019 (COVID-19).
