Visayas & Mindanao No Need for Lockdown, Malacañang Palace Says
The Malacañang Palace said that there’s no need to place Visayas and Mindanao on lockdown for now amid coronavirus outbreak.
On Tuesday (April 7, 2020), the presidential spokesman Salvador Panelo said that there’s no need to put Visayas and Mindanao on lock after President Rodrigo Duterte approved the extension of enhanced community quarantine in Luzon.
Panelo said several local officials have placed their respective areas of jurisdiction in Visayas and Mindanao under quarantine to prevent the entry of coronavirus disease, which is now spreading in various countries all around the world.
The presidential spokesman said that the Visayas and Mindanao is off the table for now but it would still depend on the situation.
Meanwhile, President Duterte has extended the enhanced community quarantine over the entire Luzon for another 15 days until April 30, 2020.
