Two Residents Go Fishing Due to Hunger & Violates Lockdown Protocols

Two residents were caught after violating the enhanced community quarantine to go fishing due to hunger after losing their jobs.

Many countries are already implementing precautionary measures to prevent the spread of the coronavirus disease 2019. Several countries imposed lockdown and enhanced community quarantine.

The enhanced community quarantine has been implemented to limit the movements of the residents and to prevent the possible exposure of the citizens to the deadly virus that has affected thousands of people all around the world.

However, the new lockdown protocols cause suspension of works and mass transportation, which has a huge impact to the poor families.

Recently, two men from Sungai Siput, Perak in Malaysia violated the quarantine orders after they have go fishing due to hunger. The two roof-renovation workers were afraid that they might get caught but they have decided to go fishing because they need food.

The offenders were identified as 45-year-old Chen and 56-year-old Zhong both lose their jobs without having any savings due to the MCO, which is the equivalent of ECQ in the Philippines. The two were earning below the minimum wage.

The poor workers attempted to sneak out at a pond in Rimba Panjang to catch some fish fearing of starvation but they were caught by the police officers patrolling in the area.
