LEA SALONGA – International singer and Broadway Diva Lea Salonga did this and raised over Php 1-million in just 1 hour for the frontliners.
Ever since the deadly Coronavirus Disease 2019 (COVID-19) had a breakout in the country, a lot of help from the government (both local and national), private individuals, and famous personalities have flooded to be given to poor family and to our heroes, the frontliners.
Help in any form is well-appreciated coming from cash donations, medical stuff, and food are huge contributions as we all combat the malevolent virus which has been declared as pandemic. And now, Broadway Diva Lea Salonga has impressed us all when she did this.
On Thursday, April 2, she went streaming for a concert for the benefit of those who are in dire need amid the crisis. She is among those artists in “Bayanihan, Musikahan” which has an aim to raise funds for frontline workers and persons who are affected by the community quarantine.
She sang songs from the Broadway such as “Gaman” from “Allegiance,” and “The Human Heart” from “Once on this Island”. Also, she performed OPM classics “Nais Ko,” “Bakit Labis Kitang Mahal,” and “Sana Maulit Muli” and ended her concert with the song “Paraiso.”
In the first 10 minutes of her performance, she was able to gather Php 100,000.00, reached more than half a million after 30 minutes, and her hour-long concert streaming reached over a million by the end of the session in terms of donations.
Meanwhile, Bayanihan Musikahan, as of April 2, has already collected Php 22-million. And Lea, found it amazing that she gathered over a million in more than just an hour.
She also said, “There’s no such thing as too small of a contribution or a donation because when you pool all of these resources together, it becomes one whole big thing and so many people will be able to get the help that they need, the protection that they need.”
