Anakalusugan Rep Urges President Duterte to Advance the Release of Midyear Bonus

Advance Release of Midyear Bonus Pushed by Anakalusugan Rep

Anakalusugan Rep. Mike Defensor is requesting President Duterte to advance the release of midyear bonus for government workers.

On Friday (April 3, 2020), Mike Defensor pushes the early release of the midyear bonus of over 1.6 million government employees during the health crisis in the country due to the coronavirus disease.

Defensor also explained that the government should advance the payment of midyear bonus by only one month because the local officials were urging private employers to release the 13th-month pay of their employees.

The Department of Budget and Management (DBM) said that the funds for the midyear bonus are already available and set to release after President Duterte’s approval, according to Anakalusugan Rep.

“If President Duterte authorizes its payment next weekend or on April 15, we are advancing it only by one month. The government loses nothing, but our employees in the bureaucracy will have more money during this public health emergency,” Defensor said.

The midyear incentives of the government employees are set to be released before May 15 of every year based on the National Budget Circular No. 579.
