The Office of the Presidential Adviser on the Peace Process (OPAPP) said in its statement that Galvez said that the government might still extend the ECQ for coronavirus disease 2019 in some affected areas.

According to GMA News, the statement also said that the extension is meant to balance the ensuring of residents’ health and safety; and observing economy, social order and human safety.

Galvez also assured the public that they are doing what they can to prevent and contain the socio-economic impact of the disease but they couldn’t do it without the cooperation and support of all members of the community.

Certain government agencies address Galvez’ announcement: DILG Secretary Eduardo Año said that it is not recommended to extend the quarantine as this would affect the economy of the nation. DOH Sectetary Secretary Francisco Duque III said, meanwhile, that it is too early to make the decision.

As per the report, the proposed new plan by Galvez includes implementing massive forced quarantine (MFQ) to spot, isolate, and treat patients of COVID-19 in order for them to be recovered and return to their communities as soon as possible.

Once these are deployed, Galvez said that evaluations will be conducted at the sitio and village level, which will begin in April 15. The said assessments will see if communities can be considered COVID-19-free.

Furthermore, there will be an administration of massive testing to persons under investigation (PUIs) and persons under monitoring (PUMs) without any postponement.

The new plan may be backed up with contact tracing, ECQ enforcement, and isolation of patients and suspected cases.
