Third generation owners of Ligo sardines caught social media attention.
LIGO SARDINES – Tung brothers, the third generation owners of Ligo recently caught social media attention and their photos circulated online.
With affordability and of nutritional value, Ligo sardines have become a part of our meals. A can probably costs Php 17.00 and it can already go a long way with creativity – a versatile product indeed. According to a Food and Agriculture Organization Globefish Report in 2013, there are roughly 15 million cases of canned sardines that Filipinos consume every year.
For 65 years already, Ligo has become a food item in Filipino households. And the third generation owners of this sardine fish stock who now run the family business, are the Tung brothers – Mikko, Mark, and Macky. However, aside from being good businessmen, their good looks also caught social media attention.
On Facebook, a certain Liz Tan posted some of their photos and the caption of the post read, “Kaya pala ang sarap ng Ligo Sardines 🙈 Meet the third-generation owners of Ligo Sardines.”

Mikko is the imminent successor. The patriarch of the A. Tung Chingco Manufacturing Corp. Gregory Tung Jr. already gave them the responsibility to run their business which was founded by Gregory Sr. The three brothers were raised in Canada but despite of their wealth, they were instilled of discipline and hard work.
Ligo, is short for Liberty Gold, which has expanded to wide products such as Ligo Mackerel, Ligo Squid, Ligo Corned Beef, and Ligo Sardines variants the likes of Gata, Spanish, Afritada, Kaldereta, Tausi, Tinapa, and Curry.
