Richard Juan Shares Important Info About Surgical Masks

RICHARD JUAN – Kapamilya actor Richard Juan uploaded a video demonstrating why spraying alcohol ruins surgical masks.

Supplies of alcohol and face masks are running out amid the growing anxiety brought the 2019 novel coronavirus. Lots of people are allegedly hoarding these protective items to sell at an unreasonably high price.

Good thing there are some who are making DIY masks to fight the deadly virus from China. In a previous article, Pinay fashion icon Heart Evangelista created an improvised face mask.

Surely, lots of people are seeking ways to reuse the surgical masks but they did not know that it’s unsafe for them to reuse it after spraying with alcohol.

On Tuesday, March 24, ABS-CBN actor Richard Juan uploaded a video on his Instagram account to demonstrate why spraying alcohol destroys face masks. He said the disinfectant ruins the waterproof layer of the protective masks.

In the first part of the video, the ‘Love Thy Woman’ actor showed that even pouring water on the protective gear, the water will not soak due to its waterproof coating on the surface. However, when he started praying alcohol on the gear, it started leaking.

“So guys that’s exactly why you should not be spraying alcohol on you face mask and reusing it,” he said.
