The policies of Pasig City Mayor Vico Sotto elicited reactions
Pasig City Mayor Vico Sotto’s policies amid the COVID-19 crisis earned reactions from several celebrities in the Philippines.
These past few days, Mayor Vico’s name was a social media trend. Netizens showed admiration for how he approached the coronavirus crisis. However, there were also those who did not like what he is doing and bashed him online.
However, several Pinoy celebrities showed recognition of his effort for his constituents in Pasig City such as actor Jake Ejercito. The latter has this Twitter post on March 19 featuring his message for the young mayor, based on the article from PEP.
“Chiming in to commend Mayor @VicoSotto. He’s exemplified genuine public service and the kind of change we still desperately need. It’s up to us to hold our other leaders to the same standards,” Jake wrote.
Aside from Jake, Kapuso actress Jasmine Curtis also expressed admiration for the Pasig City Mayor. She retweeted a report stating that E-bikes are allowed in Manila. The actress has this thought about this: “Sana i-reconsider din yung sa Pasig our Mayor has done so well!!! So glad to see new leaders setting a new norm for efficiency and strategic thinking. Sana dumami pa sila.”
It can be recalled that Mayor Vico asked the national government would allow tricycles to still go around Pasig amid the community quarantine. However, his request was denied.
OPM icon Ogie Alcasid simply tweeted “Protect Vico” amid the negative comments posted against the mayor.
Host and social media influencer Bianca Gonzalez, as a resident in Pasig, expressed support and gratitude to the Mayor.
YouTuber Jako de Leon, the son Henyo Master Joey de Leon said that he is right in showing support for the Pasig City Mayor.
Director/writer Antoinette Jadaone also showed support to Vico Sotto in implementing policies amid the COVID-18 outbreak.
